Do I need to oil the valves?

Unlike other brass instruments, our plastic brass is slightly different to clean and take care of!

It may be surprising to hear, but you shouldn't need to apply valve oil to the pTrumpet or pCornet pistons!

If you are experiencing issues with sticking valves, we would often recommend the below:

• Remove the pistons from your instrument. This can be done by twisting and pulling the bottom cap. The piston should then be able to slide out (you may need to apply some pressure onto the valve to remove it).
• Clean the pistons. Using a microfibre cleaning cloth, gently wrap the piston in the cloth and wipe. This will help to remove any excess dust/dirt that may have gathered over time.
• Replace the pistons. Assemble the valves back inside the instrument and re-attach the bottom caps. Have a go and see whether the valves feel better!
